Upon graduating from the world renowned Conrad Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston in 1973, Mr. Massad was actively recruited by American Liberty Oil Company for their growing domestic hotel management division, being assigned first as Food & Beverage Director at one of ALOC’s Sheraton Hotels. Soon elevated to the position of General Manager at the same property, he later served as GM at several Sheraton hotels in the company portfolio in the 1970s. Under his direction, he helped form American Liberty Hospitality, later becoming the firm’s first President. After stewarding the growth of this new firm for the benefit of its founders, he arranged for the outright purchase of all of the stock in ALHI in 1991, together with his hotelier spouse, Vicki, and has served as its Chief Executive Officer since. Over this period, ALHI grew to be respected as one of Texas’ most successful independent hotel management and investment companies, creating opportunities for themselves as owners, for their employees and for their investors.

Mr. Massad is an extraordinarily well-rounded hotelier utilizing his vast experience in a diverse collection of hotel ventures to benefit industry associates, the investment community, and academia. He has chaired the Houston Hotel and Motel Association for several terms, presided as Chairman of Sheraton’s International Franchise Council, and served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau. He currently serves as Chairman of the Dean’s Industry Advisory Council of the Conrad Hilton College of Hotel/Restaurant Management at the University of Houston and has intenerated on the guest lecture circuit for several hospitality and tourism oriented universities in the People’s Republic of China. His guest lectures at the Conrad Hilton College have always been immensely popular with students where many view him as an industry mentor. In 1993 he was awarded the Founding Dean’s Award distinguishing him as an outstanding alumnus of the Conrad Hilton College of Hotel/Restaurant Management.
