Nicholas Joe Massad, Jr., 60, of West Houston, is a 1973 graduate of the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston. He now develops, owns and manages hotels throughout Houston and the southwest region.

American Liberty Hospitality expects to start construction on the 250-room full-service hotel by next summer after it receives final approval for its franchise from Hilton Hotels Corp. and secures financing. The opening is scheduled for the first quarter of 2010.

HOUSTON, September 17, 2007—The Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston has announced the receipt of the largest gift ever presented to the college from a source other than the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.

Nick and Vicki Massad of Houston-based American Liberty Hospitality have presented the college with a $1.5 million gift that will significantly enhance the college’s Library and Hospitality Industry Archives.

January 2007 - The Greater Houston hospitality industry celebrated its own when two cornerstones of the hospitality industry hosted an evening at the Hilton Americas Houston that recognized and awarded some of the most outstanding men and women in its ranks.
        
The University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management and The Hotel & Lodging Association of Greater Houston (HLAGH) continued a partnership that dates back thirty-five years by hosting the second annual Hospitality on Parade Awards Banquet and Dance. The event recognized men and women whose day-to-day contributions give hospitality its meaning as well as a special Lifetime Achievement Awards.

His professional life has come full circle.

In 1973, Nick Massad Jr. graduated from the Conrad Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston.

Now he's building a new, streamlined version of Hilton hotels. For about 10 years, the industry has been gravitating toward this new generation of hotel, Massad said.

"If it were the airline industry, it would be Southwest Airlines," he said.

Even though they are in the hotel business, Nick and Vicky Massad hardly ever get to rest. Thirty years ago, Nick Massad Jr. graduated as one of the first alumnus from the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston. Today, he and his wife Vicky develop, own and manage hotels throughout Houston and the Southwest through their company, American Liberty Hospitality.
